Version: Draft for review
Placeholder wording. This document is a draft prepared for review by a qualified legal practitioner. It does not constitute legal advice and is not a final, binding agreement.
The rule that matters most
Job seekers should never be asked to pay for an interview or employment opportunity. There is no legitimate reason for an employer to request money from you at any stage of a recruitment process.
Warning signs
A request for a registration, training, uniform, transport, medical or placement fee.
An offer made without any interview, or interviews conducted only through a messaging app.
Pressure to decide immediately, or to send money urgently through EcoCash or a bank transfer.
Requests for your national ID, bank details or passwords before any formal offer.
A salary that is far above the market rate for the role and location.
Communication only from a free email address, or a company with no verifiable physical presence.
How to protect yourself
Look for the verified employer badge and check the company profile before applying.
Confirm the employer's physical address and landline independently.
Attend interviews at a business premises during working hours, and tell someone where you are going.
Never send money, airtime or vouchers to secure a role.
Keep communication on the platform where possible so there is a record.
If something goes wrong
Use the Report Listing link on any vacancy to alert our safety team. Include screenshots, phone numbers and payment references where you have them.
If you have lost money, report the matter to the Zimbabwe Republic Police as well as to us.
